Measuring Our Impact
Monitoring Our Mission
FINCA’s work and research are driven by always monitoring our mission: to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living. Our data shows how FINCA’s work unfolds in the living and working conditions of our clients. Given our mission is global, our social performance indicators are designed to capture the rich diversity of the places where we work and the different kinds of clients we are fortunate to serve.
Principles Guiding Our Research Studies
First, we recognize that there is no single solution to poverty; different interventions are geared towards specific parts of the problem.
Second, since most of our clients are self-employed, we know that their businesses and household activities are strongly intertwined. This means that our search for impact must encompass different dimensions of our clients’ lives, including their family, their business and their personal aspirations.
Third, we cannot ignore the special role of women in advancing FINCA’s mission, and the unique challenges they face. Wives and mothers carry the bulk of household responsibilities, even when they are the main earners in their families. Meanwhile, their access to resources and opportunities is often severely constrained.
Considering all these factors, our research looks at who we are reaching, their living conditions, and their ability to generate income and employment. Read more about our approach to social performance measurement.
